Cornerback · Las Vegas Raiders
Hezekiah Masses
No. 35 · Rookie
A fifth-round pick and a secondary that needed somebody
There is a version of every NFL draft where a team picks a player and both sides are just hoping for the best. This doesn't feel like that.
Hezekiah Masses came into the league as a fifth-round cornerback — the kind of pick that rarely lands on the depth chart right away. But the Las Vegas Raiders walked into the 2026 draft with a real problem at the back of their defense, chose four defensive backs to address it, and now Masses is reportedly in the mix to start.
That's not nothing for a rookie still learning the job at the professional level. The Raiders didn't draft this many defensive backs to fill out a roster — they drafted them because they needed to rebuild something. Masses landed in exactly the kind of room where a young player can actually move.
The opportunity is real.
