Outside Linebacker · Washington Commanders
Odafe Oweh
No. 98 · 6th season
Adam Peters went and got his guy, and now Washington has to see if it was worth it
Every offseason, a front office bets on one player more than the rest. For Washington's Adam Peters, that bet this year landed on Odafe Oweh.
Oweh is an edge rusher — a pass-rusher whose job is to get to the quarterback before the play develops. Peters reportedly made Oweh the centerpiece of Washington's free agent work this offseason, which means the expectations on him are real before he's played a snap.
The Commanders defense is run by Dan Quinn, one of the more respected defensive minds in the league, and coordinator Daronte Jones will have a direct hand in how Oweh is used. The scheme is there. The people around him know what they're doing. Now it's on Oweh to justify the faith Peters placed in him.
When a general manager calls you his top acquisition, that is either a gift or a weight. Probably both.
