Most new additions have to earn the room's trust slowly. Chuck Clark walked into Detroit and the Lions gave him something different: a leadership role in the secondary, before he'd played a single snap for them.

Clark arrived as a free agent, which means no draft capital, no guaranteed standing, no built-in leverage. Just a player the organization decided they believed in.
