No. 20 · Rookie

Denver used a late draft pick to make sure they're not caught without a plan

When JK Dobbins went down, the Denver Broncos felt it. He had been running well before the injury, and suddenly the team was looking at whatever depth they had left and hoping it was enough.

Enter Jonah Coleman, a running back the Broncos picked up on the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft. Day 3 is where teams find the guys who don't make highlight reels at the combine but do make rosters — and, sometimes, careers.

The front office isn't asking Coleman to be the answer. They're asking him to be ready. Behind Dobbins, that might mean practice reps and patience. Or it might mean something more, depending on how Dobbins heals.

Late picks in April have a way of meaning nothing, or everything. Coleman is about to find out which one this is.
