The fifth round is where the NFL buries its long shots. Players taken there spend their whole careers proving the round wrong — and Tory Horton was doing exactly that.

Horton came into his first season as a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks with something to show. He got his start, built real momentum, and looked like one of those late-round picks a team quietly congratulates itself for. Then a fractured shin took the decision out of his hands entirely. He had surgery to fix it, and just like that, the rookie year was over.
