Running Back · New York Jets

Isaiah Davis

No. 32 · 3rd season

Isaiah Davis is going to miss some time, and the Jets can't afford to shrug

A couple of weeks sounds like nothing. For a running back trying to hold his spot on a roster that is always one depth-chart shuffle away from a surprise, it is not nothing.

Isaiah Davis has been working to carve out a real role with the New York Jets. He is young, he is competing, and every practice rep matters when you are still proving you belong. A knee injury changes the math on that, at least for now.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed Thursday that Davis is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks. The injury itself was not described as serious in the long run, but the timing is what it is.

Missed weeks are missed reps. They are someone else getting the carries, the film, the shot to impress. Davis will have to come back and reclaim ground that may have shifted while he was out.

That is the thing about these moments — they are almost never just about a knee.
