Jamal Adams finds a new home in Minnesota after a long road back

There was a time when Jamal Adams was one of the most talked-about safeties in football. Three Pro Bowl selections, a reputation as a tone-setter on defense, and a career that felt like it was building toward something big. Then the years got complicated — trades, injuries, position changes, a stint in Las Vegas where he lined up at linebacker instead of his natural home in the secondary.

Adams spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders, making the switch to linebacker full-time. He made tackles, disrupted runs, showed he could still contribute. But he was also clearly a player searching for where he fit — somewhere between what he was and what teams needed him to be.

Now the Minnesota Vikings have signed him, bringing one of the more decorated defensive backs of his generation into their fold.

At his best, Adams changes how an offense thinks about attacking the middle of the field. Whether Minnesota is betting on that version of him — or a versatile veteran who knows how to be useful — matters a lot for what comes next.

He's had a longer road back than anyone probably expected. The question now is what he does with another door open.
