Battle got to ride along with the Blue Angels — the U.S. Navy's flight demonstration squadron, the ones who fly in tight formation at speeds that make your chest tighten just watching from the ground. It is not a experience handed out freely. Most people spend a lifetime at an airshow looking up.

For a player whose job is reading what's coming at him fast and making a decision faster, there's something fitting about that cockpit. The world from up there looks different. Most of us will never know how different.

Whatever Battle carries back to the field from that flight, the memory alone is a pretty good reason to show up on Monday.
