Wide Receiver · Carolina Panthers
Xavier Legette
No. 17 · 3rd season
Legette spent the summer proving he could be someone else.
Xavier Legette came into the offseason knowing continuation was not an option. The wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers had posted a year he could not repeat—and he said so plainly, in June, naming the stakes for himself. Summer work followed. Not the generic kind; the kind that shows up on film.
Head coach Dave Canales noticed. He saw Legette moving like himself again—the player the Panthers drafted to be a cornerstone, not the one who had stumbled through the season before. The effort was not subtle. It registered as real.
The dividends have started to show. Not a full redemption yet—that comes in games—but enough to suggest the conversation has shifted from "can he?" to "maybe he will." Legette is a young player in a young system under a new coach who believes in second acts. The work is being watched.
