New play-caller, familiar face — Daniels heads into the offseason with something to build on
The offseason is when quarterbacks quietly figure out who they're going to be next year. For Jayden Daniels, that work is already underway.
Daniels, the Washington Commanders quarterback, is coming off a rookie season that put the league on notice. Now he's navigating a new chapter at the most important position on the field: a new offensive coordinator in David Blough — someone described as a familiar face, not a stranger walking in cold.
That matters more than it sounds. For a young quarterback, the relationship with the play-caller shapes everything — how plays are designed around what they do best, how communication flows in the middle of a game, how trust gets built before the season even starts. The fact that Blough isn't new to Daniels takes at least one variable off the table.
Spring practice sessions are early. Nothing is decided yet. But the dynamic between those two is worth watching.
