Nine pounds lighter, and Dan Campbell is already proud of him

Dan Campbell is not a man who hands out pride cheaply. So when he goes on record saying he's proud of one of his defensive tackles, it means something.

Tyleik Williams plays in the trenches for the Detroit Lions, one of the most physical teams in the league. He came into the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine at 334 pounds. He has since worked himself down to 325. Nine pounds doesn't sound like much until you think about what it takes to move that weight off a body built for collision.

Campbell noticed. That's the detail worth holding onto — not the number, but the fact that a head coach who watches people closely enough to make a point of mentioning it, made a point of mentioning it.

For a player fighting for his place on a defense, having your head coach talk about your offseason like that is not nothing. It's a signal that someone is paying attention to the work.
