The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot of question marks heading into this season. Benson, a rookie wide receiver, was not supposed to be an answer — not yet, anyway.

Not much has been written about where he comes from or what it took to get here. What the offseason made clear is that he can play. During the team's voluntary spring practice sessions, Benson stood out enough that ESPN flagged him as a genuine surprise — the kind of player people started watching a little more closely once they noticed him.

For a rookie on a roster in flux, that is not a small thing. Getting noticed in the spring means getting more reps. More reps mean more chances to make the case before anyone else gets a vote.

The Raiders have a wide receiver room to sort out. Benson just made that conversation more interesting.
