Justin Dedich

No. 67 · 3rd season

Not fireworks — but the Rams still had to ask the question

Training camp has a way of turning small mysteries into big conversations. Justin Dedich showed up to the Los Angeles Rams' opening sessions on the non-football injury list, hand wrapped, and for a moment nobody was saying why.

Dedich is a guard — the kind of player whose job is to take the hit before someone else has to. The Rams had not disclosed the nature of the injury when they first placed him on the list.

Rams head coach Sean McVay eventually filled in the gap: a hand accident, somewhere around the Fourth of July. And yes — he confirmed it had nothing to do with fireworks. Which, if you have ever spent a holiday weekend near people you love, means you understand exactly why that was the first question anyone thought to ask.

Dedich is expected back soon, so the stakes for the season are low. But that one small clarification from McVay says something about how these stories travel — and how quickly a missing detail becomes the whole conversation.

Despite “hand” and “Fourth of July” being in the same sentence, I’m told this was not a fireworks accident for #Rams OL Justin Dedich. He has all his fingers and will be back in action in the near future.
