Outside Linebacker · Atlanta Falcons

James Pearce Jr.

No. 27 · 2nd season

Pearce is back at the facility. He's not expected to say a word about it.

James Pearce Jr. walked back into the Atlanta Falcons' training facility today — the first time he's been there since facing charges of aggravated battery and fleeing law enforcement back in February. Two months of distance, and now the building again.

Pearce is a young defensive end still building his name in the league. What he was building toward before February, and what that month cost him in the eyes of his coaches and teammates, is the quieter question underneath the return.

He's expected to participate in the team's mandatory spring sessions this week. He is not expected to speak to reporters. The charges from the February incident remain part of his reality; the legal process is not over.

Returning to practice is one kind of step. Answering for what happened is another. Right now, Pearce is doing the first one.
