Ricky Pearsall is a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, still early enough in his career that every season carries real weight. A knee injury from the 2025 season has been lingering, and right now it has kept him off the practice field with swelling that the team is watching closely.

The concern is real enough that surgery is on the table. If that is the road they go down, Pearsall would miss all of 2026 — the entire year, gone, before it starts. The 49ers have said they are considering all options, which is the kind of language a team uses when none of the options are good.
