George Pickens
No. 3 · 5th season
Pickens says he'll play on the tag. The rest is complicated.
There's a version of this where everyone moves on quietly. George Pickens isn't quite there yet, but he's getting in line.
Pickens has made no secret of wanting a long-term deal. The tag is a one-year answer to a question he wanted settled for good. But he's said he'll play — and in this business, that's the part that actually matters.
There's a real cost to this kind of standoff, even when it ends without drama. A player shows up, does the work, and the question of what they're worth hangs over every snap. The number on the tag says plenty; the conversation about the next contract doesn't go away.
What we're watching now is how he carries it — whether the frustration stays in the negotiating room or finds its way onto the field.
