Sawyer Robertson is in the building, and that's already something
Most quarterbacks at a mandatory minicamp have a contract. Sawyer Robertson has a tryout.
Robertson came out of Baylor and has enough about his game to turn heads — the Denver Broncos brought him in specifically because they wanted a closer look. He is one of several players the team invited to their mandatory spring sessions to see who might be worth keeping around.
Quarterback tryouts at this stage are long shots by nature. The player showing up anyway, running the offense in front of coaches who could close the door by the end of the week — that takes something.
Nothing is promised. But Robertson is in the building, which means the door is at least open.
