Outside Linebacker
Jadeveon Clowney
No. 42 · 13th season
Thirteen seasons in and four teams are still calling
Most players reach the end of their career chasing one more opportunity. Jadeveon Clowney is being chased by four.
Clowney was the first overall pick in the 2014 draft — the kind of selection that comes loaded with expectation and never quite lets a player go. He has spent the years since moving from team to team, always dangerous, always a presence across the line of scrimmage, rarely the story anyone predicted he would become. Twelve seasons of professional football will do a lot to a body and a narrative both.
Now, heading into what would be his thirteenth year, four teams are reportedly competing for his signature. He is a free agent with options, which is not a given for a player at this stage.
That number — four teams — says something. Not about stats or contracts, but about what defensive coaches believe they are getting when Clowney walks into a building. Whatever the last chapter looks like, it will not be for lack of interest.
The question now is which phone call he picks up.

Also from our segment on The Insiders talking veteran free agents, Jadeveon Clowney has four teams interested in him and vying for his services. Could sign with one soon ahead of his 13th NFL season. https://t.co/2zfObq6WP8
